Hello

I would like to add to the excellent advice already given. If you decide to do a Mandatory Reconsideration please do not telephone PIP to do this. Do your MR by letter in writting because this will be used as further written evidence if you need to go to appeal. You have a month (i think) to submit your MR letter but you have a further 12 months to apply for MR after your descision date so you have 13 months in total so plenty of time.

I fully agree with Blueberry Owl it is a good idea to take a step back and clear your mind then come back and approach the MR letter that you can type out on your PC and edit it if your require. Also look at reading the excellent guides provided by this site it will give you a better idea on what the PIP Benefit is about and what the criterias are for PIP. They are a must read for anyone who is looking at claiming PIP or UC.

Hope this as been some help

Hi Tired Mum just read your post and what you are describing and understand perfectly how you feel I and so many other's have had under gone the so called assessment and end up with no award. On top of that the assessors write reports designed to fail you. You read them and they do not in any way describe your life and daily struggle with chronic ill health. The report will shock you with what they report about you or leave out or claim you are exaggerating how you are affected by your conditions. You are not alone they do this to thousands of people it is truly an awful system you haven't done anything wrong.
It is awful how they twist things to suit their aims. Please bear in mind you can appeal but you will probably have a long wait but if you succeed you will receive a back dated award.
You can also start a new claim straight away if you develop a new condition or more importantly if your existing conditions worsen.
This could be your anxiety or depression has become worse. Or you level of pain or fatigue gets worse. You may find that because your doctor reduces your opiate based meds like cocodamol as part of a policy to reduce opiate prescription naturally your pain will get worse. This has happened to me.
I hope you can find the strength to keep on with your claim any appeal or any new claim you make. Best of luck

Took several calls to actually get them to agree to send copy of report. I first rang on the 16th September the woman spent 20 or more minutes telling me she would do MR over the phone , that I didn't need the report as it would be better and quicker to let her do it. I insisted I was entitled to a copy and I wanted to do the MR myself. Suddenly she started saying "can you hear me, are you there, can you hear me" the call quality hadn't changed the clarity was good then she buttoned me. It took me several calls after that over 2 weeks to eventually get an agent to just agree to send report out. The letter with report was dated 30th September I received it Friday the 4th October. I read one Sentence and was so upset and angry that I put it away. Got it out earlier had a brief skim through, it is a work of fiction. I'll be back maybe tomorrow but I am so vexed I will need to go through carefully and get lots of advice of you all.

Hi Tried MUM

Congratulations on sticking up for your rights and getting a copy of the report. I'm sorry that you're not yet ready to read it. You are right to take a break and gather yourself. You are not alone in receiving a report that is a 'work of fiction'. You were strong enough to fight to get the report when they were obviously going to fudge it - and you will find the strength to go through what will be unpleasant reading. Just take one question at a time and work out how you will counter all the points you disagree with.

Come back and ask if you have any questions and we will try and help.
