Support group ESA to UC was created by Xepher
Hi
I am in the support group for ESA, and have had to apply to UC for forced migration.
According to the UC online thing, I am not receiving ESA. I have called ESA, they confirmed I am, as did the UC migration helpline. I put a message in the journal, and was told they are 'waiting for information about my ESA claim.'
Now I have a to-do list that involves getting ready to seek work, and a job centre appointment. I have explained I am in the support group and asked what the appointment is for, if I do not have to seek work. I have been told it is "to discuss educational and training courses" for me.
Does this sound right for someone in the ESA support group? I have also been told it is mandatory as part of the UC migration for me to go to the job centre, but my husband claimed at the same time and he hasn't been called in (he gets carer's allowance, and the system picked that up.)
I asked if I can submit evidence of my ESA claim since the system apparently isn't recognising it still, but this appointment is worrying me. I have a multitude of mental and physical health problems and this is utterly destroying my mental health.
If it's mandatory, why hasn't my husband been called in? And in the support group am I really supposed to be going on educational and training courses, that I cannot even do, due to my health?

Hi Xepher,
Yes someone in the DWP has made a mistake. If you are happy to tell me the county or approximate area you live in ( for instance South West England, East Anglia etc) I can locate the DWP senior manage responsible.
Also keep proof/screen shots of any excuses such as IT systems not working.

Hi Xepher,
The DWP publish the names of the Jobcentreplus Disrict Managers and the one for Kent is Hamera Ahmad.
So I think the message to your Work Coach is that you are considering a complaint to Hamera Ahmad District Manager regarding the mistake which is causing you a lot of anxiety. You can send this message on your journal and choose from the drop down menu " Work Coach".

Thank you again. Just to confirm details, the work coach has said it is 'likely' I do not have to seek work, but wants me to attend as it is 'mandatory to engage with the job centre when claiming universal credit' and my appointment is to discuss 'educational and training courses.'
Is it mandatory (my husband hasn't been called for e.g), and is wanting me to go and discuss educational and training courses when in the support group incorrect?

Hi Xepher,
Claimants in the Support Group don't have to go to the Jobcentre to discuss training etc.
I think you should send a message to your Work Coach asking does " mandatory " mean that I could receive a Benefit sanction if I don't attend. The answer would tell us a lot.
