ESA Migration to UC

ESA Migration to UC was created by Gaddy
HI all,

The Letter I received from Stephen Timms (pinned at the top of the page) is beginning to look like a fairy tale version of what should happen when migrating from ESA to UC! i wrote to my MP to draw attention to the mistake the work coaches are making by insisting on claimants providing a fit note to proceed with the UC claim. There is no reference to that in his reply.
I feel I am at a slight disadvantage if I respond to his letter pointing out yet again what many are experiencing as I have yet to receive a migration notice.

Any ideas of any action I/we could take to get heard over this, in the hope Jobcentre staff would get a memo about the legislation they should already be aware of and implementing.

Your thoughts welcome.

Hi Gaddy,

I have been informed by the CPAG which is a Benefits Advice Charity that they are having a meeting with senior DWP managers regarding this issue on the 29 October. Until then unfortunately I expect BenefitsandWork members and moderators are going to be busy with the problems caused by Work Coaches demanding Fit Notes. ( Evidently there are 27,000 Work Coaches in the UK ! )

Thanks for that info David, at least there is a chance something will be done about it.

As if migrating wasn't causing enough anxiety already without having to deal with the extra hurdle of misinformation from Work Coaches.

Members are fortunate to have access to your ability to provide us with the appropriate manager to complain to so grateful for that!

Hi sorry to bump, but I been have a problem with the migration to us I received my letter back in July ask me to migrate I received my first payment but my transition protection wasn’t included I kept messaging the work coach about it and I’m being fob off with it’s currently being calculated, this have become super distressing as I have bills to pay, because of my family extra needs, I have called citizens advice
We have both spoken to the up help line which is absolutely useless and was left more confused than before to be told put it in my journal

Hi Candycane1010,

I think that the Work Coach is not the person you need to complain to in this instance. Type your message of complaint on your UC Journal and then from the drop down list choose Payment and send the message having copied it first. Then paste the message on the Journal and send it again but this time choose Service Issue from the drop down list. Sending your complaint to different teams is a precaution against DWP saying it was lost or never received.

Hi David,
I have just seen in the news section that there is a 'tactical fix' being implemented to stop the illegal fit note demands from work coaches.
They could have just made sure their staff were aware of the legislation to apply in the first place of course, but pleased it is being addressed anyway.
