Disabled Child Element Managed Migration

I’ve been sent a migration notice and currently receive DLA for 1 child and income based ESA & SDP (plus PIP). I have another child about to have an ADHD assessment and I have been encouraged by a support worker to apply for DLA for that child as well. I understand that any extra disabled child element would be wiped off my transitional protection but if I apply for the DLA before I apply for the UC would it not come off my transitional protection when it comes through (if successful) because I claimed it before the UC claim? I hope that makes sense. Thanks guys.

Hi Parks

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

Your question does make sense, I cannot remember if a disable child element affects any transitional protection. Applying for DLA before applying for UC would make no difference.
