Hello, I submitted my ESA 50 form (to reassess my work capability) two months ago. It was delivered on 16/09/24. So far I have had no reply and am wondering/ worrying about what the delay could be. Could it be because the DWP are going to migrate me to Universal Credit? Anyway, I’m dreading this process and/ or having to have another work capability assessment. I have seen some announcements (on YouTube) that certain disability benefits are due to be axed. How true is this? My main condition is mental ill health: it seems the WCA is getting much harder to pass with mental health difficulties. I don’t know if anyone knows but I would be grateful if someone could give me a clue as to why the delay in replying to my form. Many thanks.

Hi L Bowen

I know this must be very worrying - but I would have been more surprised if you had actually heard back within 8 weeks in normal times. I can't tell you how long you will have to wait. You might hear this week or next, and it might take another month or longer.

The delays can be due to the migration process - not yours personally, just nationally - because we know that they have pulled staff from other jobs to manage the migration.

Sorry, I can't give you more information.
