Good evening. I haven't had a review but I'm reading some horror stories about people who have had reviews and they're being questioned what they spent their money on, and being told that the super market bill is too high, etc. My question is, is there a law which says how much you're allowed to spend, a threshold, etc? Thank you in advance.
The issue with the DWP is that it is part of what is called the Civil Service and so is protected by Crown Immunity. So it appears Work Coaches and other staff can get away with asking intrusive questions. As far as spending is concerned, as long as you are not spending more than your income from Benefits you should be ok. Even if you are, some sources of income are allowed such as gifts from relatives.
