conESA - Disability Premium of Not? was created by Oxymoronicchic
Hi Folks,

Can anyone clarify this please because I have been on Google for the past hour and no-one gives a clear explanation, just innuendos - 'you may be able to claim'...

If you are claiming conESA/nsESA and Enhanced PIP (both elements) can you also ask to receive an ESA Disability Premium? If yes, how? Is this what's known as a Supersession or do you have to go through a MR?

All the articles say is that you can get SDP or EDP when receiving inrESA but you can't get a Disability Premium but they do not clarify 'what' qualifies you to claim the Disability Premium?

A family member was receiving inrESA (with SDP element) and then it stopped when they moved home and they were transferred to conESA - £138.50 a week. I recently took them to the CAB and CAB said I should request the Disability Premium element of ESA but surely this would trigger you to be classed as claiming inrESA and then become part of the managed migration to UC - I'm confused?

Sorry, it's a complex question but need to make the best decision for them as they'd prefer to stay on conESA and not be migrated to UC but would like to know how to claim the Disability Premium whilst on conESA, if it's possible. many thanks

Hi Oxymoronicchic,

The date of the start of the claim makes a difference. Is the ESA claim New Style ESA ?
