Income Related ESA + Housing Benefit to UC after Change in Circumstances

Hello!
I'm wondering if anyone can offer some advice? My husband and I both get PIP and so we have the severe disability premium in our ESA claim. We are about to move from Northern Ireland to England for medical reasons and we haven't gotten our managed migration notice yet. I know that moving house will be a change in circumstances that will prompt us to switch to universal credit.

Does anyone know-
If we will still have transitional protection?
If the ESA to UC managed migration guide here is relatable to what will happen to us, or if it will be different because we're moving to UC due to a change in circumstances?
If I try to make the switch before we leave, will we have transitional protection simply by virtue of having the severe disability premium? I don't think we will, but I'm really not sure.

I apologise if this information is here on the site somewhere and I've missed it.
Kind regards,
Brianna

Hi sgbd,

There are 2 types of transitional protection that need to be distinguished. There is Universal Credit Transitional Protection which is only available following the issue of a DWP Managed Migration letter.
And there is the Transitional SDP element which would apply in your case if you moved to England. Your move as far as Benefits are concerned is termed a Natural Migration to UC. Have a read of this useful information from the Charity CPAG regarding the Transitional SDP element.

Any guide regarding to ESA to UC Managed Migration would not apply to a UC Natural Migration.

Let me know how you get on.
