New style ESA questions was created by Anneb
1. When my son (for whom I am Appointee) who currently gets Housing Benefit, PIP, CB ESA and IR ESA in LCWRA group, moves to a different borough and I have to claim UC for him, will the CB ESA when it changes to New Style ESA be in the Support Group of New Style ESA ?

2. On the UK Gov website about New Style ESA it refers to it as simply ESA in most of the information….does this mean that on a claim form for Council Tax support I would be able to put down my son gets ESA in the support group….as well as UC and PIP ?

Hi Anneb,

Your son's New Style ESA group will be the Support.
As far as Council Tax is concerned the government allows every local authority in the UK to implement it's own Council Tax Reduction scheme. So you can find a large variation of conditions. A member from the Teignbridge area has just informed us that his Council Tax has increased on UC Migration owing to the Council's less favourable treatment of the UC LCWRA element. At the end of the day it's the decision of the local Council.
