Hi

I migrated from ESA & tax credits to UC in November 2024. I was in the work related group of ESA, and so am classed as having limited capability for work, for UC.

I have just received a journal entry saying I am due a review on my work capability. I've only been on UC 3-4 months, is this normal?

I had been on ESA for around 7 years, and haven't needed to contact my GP as my mental health has been stable. Therefore I am going to have no recent medical evidence to provide them with. My anxiety is already worse just at the thought of this, as I suspect they are going to find me "fit for work"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi CR27

What does the message on your Journal say ? Also do you have any To Do's in your UC account?

Sorry, I thought I had replied to you but my message isn't appearing.
Thanks for replying.

The only "to do" I have is "take part in a work focused interview by phone " in May.

I received the following message in my journal;

"You are due a review on your work capability. Please confirm the following:
Your GP's name -
Their health centre name -
Full address of health centre, include postcode and tele number -
Do you give consent if we need to contact them?

Please reply as soon as you can.
Thank you
WCA team"

I replied with GP info & asked why I was due a review already, as I only migrated to UC in November 2024.

I received the following reply;

"Your previous referral was with ESA, and is now due for referral.
Thanks"

Hi CR27

Universal Credit LCW and LCWRA decisions do not include an End Date or Award Length, the award is for an indefinite period but with scheduled reassessment. They can review you at any time, especially as you were transferred from a legacy benefit.

Are they not usually sending UC50 forms anymore when they re-assess LCW/ LCWRA?

Are they now just asking for GP details?
(It sounds like CR20 hasn’t been sent a UC50 health form to complete.)

I wonder if it might be worth you speaking to your GP CR20 to update him/her on how your anxiety is affecting you. Then your GP would have this info when he/she is contacted.

Hi AndyJRC

Yes the review includes posting out the UC50. Just because you have a message stating that you are due for a review does not mean that a UC50 is going to arrive in the post imminently.
