Update on earlier post re 9 month premature PIP review

Following my post this morning, I was able to get through to the PIP helpline. The advisor I spoke with assessed my situation and informed me that they had cancelled my need to complete the review form. They explained that my previous assessment, full of medical evidence and which included a 3.5-hour Capita medical phone Assessment, contained sufficient information, and she advised the assessors that I am currently in no fit state to complete the paperwork.

They assured me that this is a standard process and that I would not be penalised for not submitting the form. They also expressed confidence that the assessors when the time came, would review my existing file and likely determine that a further medical assessment is unnecessary. I requested written confirmation of this procedure, and she advised that I could disregard the PIP review application when I receive it.

While I am relieved not to have additional stress and paperwork during my UC migration, I am concerned about whether this outcome is in my best interest or if it could leave me worse off.

Are you familiar with this process, and can you confirm whether this approach is indeed safe and appropriate in my circumstances?

Hi Cosmos,

I think you'll only know as to whether it's in your best interests or not, when you actually receive your award letter. I think you get a mix of assessors, and whilst some seem to want to help people, others I believe, just want to rush people through the consultation, and mark it as completed, so they can get them out the way.
I've approved your post anyways, and maybes one or more of our other claimants can reply if they've experienced anything similar.

Chris.
