PIP Review Telephone Assessment was created by Riley
I received a text today from Capita “reminding” me that I have a telephone assessment for my PIP review on 25/02/25 but I haven’t received a letter or any paperwork regarding this. I’m wondering if this is normal as I thought I should have received a letter in the post a minimum of 7 days before my telephone assessment? Also, I’ve waited almost 13 months since I completed and returned my PIP review form so I assumed that after all this time I wouldn’t have an assessment but would receive a letter from DWP extending my PIP. Please could someone help me as I’ve never had a PIP review before. I understand that Capita may ask me “trick” questions so is there a guide on here that I can read beforehand please and also will the Capita assessor have read my original PIP claim form and my completed PIP review form with evidence of my conditions prior to the call or shall I assume they haven’t? I also suffer with severe anxiety and now I’m completely stressed and worried sick about my telephone assessment. My husband is going to take time off work to be with me to help with the call as my hearing is bad - would this be acceptable with the assessor?

Hi Riley

Yes, you should have received a letter. I expect you will still get one. I'm sorry that you've had such a long wait - but you are not alone in this, and they still assess people. We've had some members who have had telephone assessments two years after they returned their form.

Look at the Guide to PIP claims and reviews. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip You will find advice on telephone assessments and the types of questions you will be asked from page 109 onwards. Take careful note about recording the interview. When you get your letter, ring them and say that you want the assessment to be recorded.

Some assessors read the review forms before the assessment and some don't. They are unlikely to have looked at your original PIP claim form.

Hope it goes well
