hi, I've just got my ESA-UC migration letter, and I've been reading your pdf on the migration process but I have a question:

I live in a housing association flat, and I have a friend living with me long term (in my living room!) because they got kicked out of their previous place - we're both disabled and chronically ill, we're both wheelchair users, we're both getting PIP but I'm the only one on ESA and HBEN.

I pay the rent (I'm the one on the lease, I get my rent through HBEN), my friend contributes to house bills, we buy our food separately because we have weird diets :)

is this going to be complicated when it comes to filling in the UC migration forms? do I literally just declare them as a long term guest or what? our long term plan is to get wheelchair accessible housing for both of us but the system is very weird when you're not a couple (plus there's very little housing that allows for the shocking idea of two wheelchair users living together who aren't a couple) so we'll probably wait for years *rolls eyes*

Hi Irian

The good news is that as you are both receiving PIP you won't be subject to a non dependent deduction or housing cost contribution. You cannot get the Council Tax single occupier discount.
You must make it clear that your guest is a friend and not a partner. Otherwise fingers crossed that the migration goes smoothly.
