Hi Mitch,
Three members on panel. Judge will introduce the panel and briefly explain hiw the hearing will work. Normally then a few questions about yourself, who you live where, any work etc. to open. Then normally Doctor will ask questions about mobility - planning journeys etc and walking ability. Disability Expert then will ask about Daily Living .
If you are only seeking points on a few descriptors then questions may just be limited to that. However tribunal can ask about all descriptors.
I recommend having a quick think to ensure you know what the question is about, and then answer. If you don't know sat so, or maybe you have forgotten. Say so. It is very tempting to just blurt out an answer because you feel you need to answer! Probably not helpful, and could be confusing!
Go to the tribunal with a friend/relative if you can. Get them to make a note if you say something incorrect or vague. The friend can then give evidence at the end (best not to interrupt unless everyone is becoming very confused with wrong information.)Its important for you to be brutally honest about the activities you can't do. Sorry. It is all a very negative progress, but if you say "I can manage to do X', even though you don't really manage at all, it is unlikely you will gain points! The friend with you needs to contradict if required
Have read of the bundle over this coming week.
Another point, especially important if phone or maybe video hearing, but also if face to face. If you need a break at any point, because you need 5 minutes because its getting too much physically and or mentally, toilet break or to get a glass of water, then say so. Whilst at the Courthouse the tribunal can see you, they won't be able to do if on phone ir a small video screen.
Be yourself, act normally. No need to rest the day before, or take extra meds unless you absolutely have to, as this will make you seem less tired, jess anxious or in less pain. Especially if in person, wear comfortable clothes, no need to dress up, and if not washing or not wearing clean clothes is your thing then that's fine too! Go plain, and especially for women, no need to wear make up - you don't want to cover up the tired looking face!
Good luck.
Let us know how you get on.
I hope this helps.
