PIP Review Assessment was created by feelingdownandout
Hello
I have had a PIP review assessment this week, I suffer with a variety of mental health issues, anxiety, CPTSD, severe depression and OCD. My first meeting a few years ago was an hour long, but this review session was only 20 minutes. The Assessor was really kind and patient, and to be honest I was a complete mess on the call. Lots of the answers to the questions were so triggering, it can be exhausting living with these conditions and talking about them and how they affect me is like feeling like I am on fire on the inside. Can someone tell me what role the assessor plays? does that person make a recommendation, I don't understand the process, and find it all very confusing.
thankyou for any responses.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi feelingdownandout
The assessor writes up an assessment report and puts a score against each question. That report is called a PA4 and you can ring the DWP 48 hours after your assessment and ask for a copy.
The report is then sent on to a Decision Marker who will look at the recommendations of the assessor and decide whether or not you will receive an award. They usually follow what the assessor has said (but not always).
It will take 6 - 8 weeks for a decision to be made - though in the current climate, it could be longer.

Dear feelingdownandout, may I suggest that for your own wellbeing, if there is someone you find supportive, ask them to be with you when you open the PA4 you're going to ask for? So that it minimises the further triggering.
You may like to take a copy of it and makes notes on your copy about anything that you might feel isn't right, however nice the assessor was on the call.
Keep us posted how you get on, there is bags of support here for you,

thankyou so much for the kind replies. I will struggle to call them as when I speak I have a very bad stammer as a result of the anxiety. I did receive a text to say that the DWP had my assessment an would be in touch with me but it could take 6 weeks and that I would continue to get my PIP in the meantime.

Hi feelingdownandout
It is always worth getting a copy of the assessors report as it gives you the heads up as to whether or not you will be successful, if you have all a's then you will not be successful but if you have a mixture of b's, c's d's and e's then you should be able to relax.
