New 4 point score for daily living descriptors was created by fluffball
hello,
Please can you explain what the new rules mean? I understand that anyone applying in 2026 or having a review must score at least 4 points on each of the daily living descriptors. Is that correct? Many thanks.

Hi fluffball,
That's correct - but you must still meet the minimum points requirement. Please see the tab above marked PIP/UC changes.

No that's not correct, you don't need 4 on EACH descriptor.
From November 2026, claimants will need to score at least 4 points from a single daily living activity to qualify for the daily living component of PIP, as well as scoring a total of at least 8 points.

This is exactly what I have just said, but in a different way of explaining. Mobility section will not be affected. I think what fluffball meant was that you must score 4 points in any of the daily living descriptors.

I only pointed it out cos fluffball said
"must score at least 4 points on each of the daily living descriptors."
As you know it's only 1 x 4 pointer descriptor on the living part needed, not each.

That's correct - I think it was the use of capitals - it didn't come across as overly friendly, as sometimes we get claimants on here who can say things quite abruptly - I've known of people to be banned from the site because of this.
