Managing money and falpreparing food was created by anxious
Hi,

I have a couple of questions about the managing money and preparing food questions. Because of my ocd I have a lot of intrusive thoughts around spending money and especially making sure my purchases are ethical. For almost every item I buy I sometimes spend hours researching the manufacturer and making sure they don’t use child labour or support causes I disagree with. Often spending hours ruminating if I’m making the right decisions. This makes purchases take much longer than most people.

Because of intrusive thoughts about being a bad person I will also not take certain jobs as a freelancer even if it means I won’t have much money left for food .

I’m wondering if these issues fall within the managing money and preparing food tasks on pip , I feel the amount of time it takes me to buy things and not taking work that could give me food might have some relevance.

Thanks again for everyone’s help here

Hi Anxious

I can't tell you what you should or shouldn't try and argue because I am not you, nor am I assessor.

If you look at the criteria for preparing a meal, it is all about the practical elements and so the things you mention may have no relevance to the assessor. You have those thoughts, but do they stop you being able to cut up vegetables or put a meal in the microwave, the majority of the time.

You have intrusive thoughts about money, but the assessor may well argue that you therefore understand the value of money and can manage it. If you need someone else to manage your money because your thoughts intrude to the point where you would make unwise decisions, it may be viewed differently.

Most things can be argued one way or another. You have to argue what feels right for you and you are the expert in what you experience and the impact it has on your life.
