ESA and SDP was created by karen
Hello I hope you can help me with this question please. I have been receiving enhanced mobility and enhanced daily living since 2021 I have never applied or nor has anyone applied for server disability premium, I was told by CAB to contact esa which I did and they were very kind and helpful. Apparently I am and have been entitled to this and they said I would be due a back pay from the date of my pip, I received £1,900 in my bank on Friday, but going by my calculations I thought it would have been more than that (but I am very grateful for what they have paid) can you tell me if I have calculated this wrong? Many thanks and hope this is ok.

Hi Karen
I can't confirm whether the amount is correct. It is outside the remit of the forum.
The SDP amount is 81.50 now, but I have no idea what it was in previous years or how many weeks you were entitled to.

Maybe citizens advice can help you as they advised you were entitled to it.

Hi
Why don't you contact them and ask for a breakdown of how they arrived at this amount?
Good Luck

Hi there,
I think you are geting a bit confused.. you say that you are receiving "enhanced mobility and enhanced daily living" and have done since 2021. These are PIP payments, you are on PIP.
PIP is entirely and completely separate, and nothing to do with ESA [which pays the severe disability premium]
Severe disabilty premium is a payment that is added on to ESA, NOT, a standalone thing.
My guess is that the CAB have applied for ESA for you, and this accounts for the £1900 that you have recieved. No idea which planet the CAB are on, but so far as i know, no benefits EVER get backdated, apart from back to the date that you applied for them.
So, from now on, not only will you get the severe disabilty premium, you will get the standard ESA payment PLUS any other premiums to which you may be entitled. This will be where the £1900 came from.
If the ESA and its premiums WERE backdated 4 years, you would have recieved more like £50,000..
