A lot of people were mortified and driven to utter despair with the news of the incoming changes. I completely understand as I was in the same position and the feeling of utter dread washed over me, yet again, of another assessment. To clarify some points and ease my anguish.
Is everyone being reassessed in 2026 or are the new rules for new claims?
For existing claims the new rules will only apply when the claimant is being reassessment at the end of their current award. Is this correct?
I'm afraid I can't ease your anguish, because until the 'proposals' are confirmed, we can't tell you exactly what is going to happen.
1. I think they are unlikely to reassess everyone in 2026. Why do I think that? As of October 2024 there were 3,660,331 people claiming PIP. That means they would need to do over 10,000 assessments every day of the year!
2. Can't say - until the DWP confirm the changes and the timetable for implementation
