My brother was on income based ESA. He was in the support group. He received the managed migration letter and we did a UC claim. An claimant commitment was generated with no work or work related activities. We agreed the commitment. Today he had had a message about a telephone appointment for new style ESA. I am confused, he was told to migrate from income based ESA support group to UC so why is he having an appointment for new style ESA??
It is because some time in the past he would have met the conditions for Contributions Based ESA. It is worth his while taking the call as it should only last 10 minutes and then he will get fortnightly payments of New Style ESA.
