Good afternoon lovely people
I was recently awarded PIP on the basic level. I scored 10 points. The letter says that the DWP will contact me after 2035 to see how my conditions are effecting me.
They agreed my conditions are complex.
However, I scored zero on planning a journey and they stated that I have an adequate driving license. I’ve never driven in my whole life and certainly couldn’t make it plan a journey, which was stated in my assessment. I think this was done to make sure that I didn’t get the higher rate.
My husband would be prepared to make a statement to verify how I couldn’t plan a journey or drive.
My concern is because I’ve been awarded a 10 year award, if I do an MR, it might affect this decision. I consider myself lucky to be awarded this award. I don’t want to loose my 10 year award. So I think perhaps I should just accept the fact that the DWP have lied. We all know that they do this .
Thank you for all of your help as I found your PIP information invaluable.
Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Minxy
Only 27% of MRs are successful, so if you do decide to challenge it, the worst that is likely to happen is that your award will remain unchanged. Some people might say that you have nothing to lose - but I know you don't feel that way. Is there a chance your award length will be changed after putting in an MR? I've never known them to do that, but I suppose there is a tiny chance of it happening. Only you can decide, but you certainly should not be penalised because you have a driving licence - that is ridiculous, especially when you don't drive.
