Appeal/MR on award length was created by Orangeblossom
Last time I was awarded for 6 yrs but this time the medical report is recommending a review in 18 months because they think treatment might help my mental health problems (it is CBT which I have had before and didn't really help)
If I did an MR / Appeal just on the award length would they look at the whole thing again? I have 12 points only for care and don't want to risk losing any. Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Orangeblossom
You can submit an MR stating that you are satisfied with your award (if you are) but would like them to reconsider the award length. Be aware that your chances of them changing their mind are not great, but we have had a few people in the last year who have managed to increase their award length. One of the problems is that the DWP started about four years ago to deliberately cut down the award length for PIP which is why so many people like yourself are suddenly finding that the times are much shorter.
Have you already been offered the CBT? If it's not already in place - I would argue that 18 months is too short because you don't even know when it is going to start.

I have been told the waiting time for the CBT will be a year, I do not have that in writing though.
Thanks
