Can you shed any light on a work coach interview that I now have to have this week? This wasn’t mentioned when I did the migration either? This is just a total anxiety inducing experience really.

Ms. Basset

Why have you been asked to go to the Jobcentre? Are you in the ESA Support Group.

I’ve also been told I’ll need to go to the job centre in a letter from ESA triggered from the migration. It says I’ll need to agree a claimant condition (which I think will just be to agree to tell them of any changes) but more worryingly it says I’ll need to tell them how my illness/disability affects my ability to work. I thought the swap didn’t query any of this. The UC part of the swap has gone straight to LCWRAG.
What can I do about this ESA appt?

Hi FunkySteph

You can send a UC Journal message to the Work Coach saying that as you are in the Support Group you don't have to attend a Jobcentre to agree a Claimant Commitment and that the DWP have allowed this to be done over the phone.

Hi David
Thank you for the quick reply. I have indeed sent a UC journal entry stating this and asking them to cancel the need to see a work coach but they have told me that they have nothing to do with the new style ESA part of the migration and therefore I will have to deal with ESA separately. Should I wait until they contact me with an appointment (which I’m going to ask to be by phone not in person due to it exacerbating my pain), or do I need to call them? I’d rather write but I don’t know if this will get lost in the system.
I asked citizens advice for help this morning and they were puzzled as to why I’d be asked to attend.
