Pip - length of phone assessment was created by Whimsylph
I have a pip phone assessment soon. I am on dla at present but transferring to pip.
I made clear in my form that I cannot talk for more than about 40 mins without significantly worsening symptoms, and this was supported by medical evidence. I phoned up the pip assessment place twice, first to alter the time of assessment and then to let them know I would be taping the phone assessment. On both occasions I tried to confirm they understood that I wouldn’t be able to talk for an hour. I had suggested on my form that if they needed more time to ask questions, the appointment could be split into two, separated by a week. The first person I spoke to seemed sympathetic but the second was less so and said the assessor would decide the time frame. Is there anything I can say or do on the day of appointment to ensure that my needs are accommodated? I will have to ring off after 40 mins anyway. Thanks,

  			 				Hi Whimsylph

There is very little you can do, but explain to the assessor that you are unable to talk for more than 40 minutes, and you will end the call if it hasn't finished. I wish I could say that the assessor will be sympathetic to your needs, but there is a good chance they won't be, as PIP assessments are often twice the length. Make sure that you record the phone call if you can.
