ESA with Universal Credit was created by HMF
Hi, I’ve been receiving ESA in the support group with SDP for around 12 years. Migrated over to UC and all was ok. I then stupidly stopped my claim for UC because of a change of circumstances, my partner moved in and he owns his own property.
9 months later I am single again, so I put in a new claim for UC with ESA. Currently receiving £400 a month. When will I receive anything for ESA whilst waiting for a new assessment? It won’t be new style ESA im told because I worked part time hours before my health changed so didn’t contribute enough.
I also receive PIP, enhanced rates for both parts. Naturally I am worrying about them saying I am fit for work, then needing to go through the appeal process. Have needed to do that twice for PIP in the past.
Thanks

Hi HMF
If you are not claiming New Style ESA then you will only receive UC and PIP.
You have lost your Support Group/LCWRA status when your previous claim ended due to the new partner. Now you will have to experience what UC call the " Health Journey ". You will have discussions with a Jobcentre Work Coach and you can ask them for further details.
Your PIP though will carry on unaffected and if you get the LCWRA element it will be at the higher rate and not the reduced post 6/4/2026 rate.
