WCA dilemma - DWP delay tactics ?

i am wondering what happens if a clmt gets offered a placement and accepts it, while waiting for wca assmt and decision

son is a college leaver and has been focusing on apprenticeships. If he get accepted, it will be first job essentially, we have no idea how or if he can cope.

Anyone shed light on what DWP do when clmt wca is pending in this scenario ?

Is there any way to chase the WCA assmt date ? if so how ?

The UC50 was posted back 8 Dec 25.
There was a period of back and forth, btw me and DWP about its where abouts.
Finally, DWP posted UCJ message on 06 Feb 26 confirming referral had been made to HAAS. no apology or acceptance of error.
I guess we have lost 2 months already waiting time.

One of the reasons for chasing is that when speaking to our new GP , ( registered with new practice in Jan 26 , so will be sometime before they understand health needs and we can build any form of relationship we had before 🤔) she questioned the need to renew the fit note and also mentioned the govt is scrutinising GP services more in this respect.

I thought it really unprofessional for GP to lay that on our shoulders - felt like saying just focus on clinical care and patients needs.

Called HAAS this morning and booked a tel appt for April .... so that's progress

I asked the agent when DWP returned/made the UC50 referral . Agent advised the UC50 had been in there system since Dec 25!!!

😱OMG !! To discover this fact after DWP 'to n fro' over resubmitting UC50 and chasing them to acknowledge original receipt, only to now discover HAAS had it all along. The DWP UCJ update in Feb 26 confirming UC50 referral is a mockery 🤬
