How do I get out? was created by joya
What is the safe and sensible way to waive my legal entitlement to welfare without being arbitrarily flagged as a fraudster?

Don't do it. In my view, you are making a complete mistake.

So what if you have been treated like this or that. I have been treated like that too, and many others have been treated the same. Sorry but I always find ridiculous how people complain about the welfare system in this country. Pittance this, pittance that, they say. It's not a pittance at all, have you ever read an autobiography of someone who lived 200 years ago?

I was reading what JK Rowling said about the 'pittance', how the poor thing could hear mice crawling in the walls, how she felt 'ashamed' of signing for income support etc at the post office.

I could not believe the silliness. I hear mice crawling in the wall too, this is a common problem. And when I went to the PO to sign for my Incapacity Benefit, I would go there with a smile on my face. I didn't give a toss about what others thought. I was happy that I could go to the supermarket and buy myself something nice to eat. Nothing fancy, it might have been a pack of sausage rolls, but I felt a lot happier: I have been homeless for almost 10 years, I know what's like to not have two pennies to rub together.

I am not saying I am better, certainly not, there's no better except the fools who believe so, but I suggest you calm down and steer more toward your safety than toward pride. In my view, you'd regret it in the long run. You'd have to go from the 'pittance' that you are legally entitled to, to the pittance of 'friends' and 'family', and then it will truly become a favour.

Don't do it. If the system gives you problems, you fight back, there are things in place for that reason. It might take work and patience, that's the price to pay for a system that as you yourself said, allows us to literally survive.

Forget about pride, that's a luxury reserved to very few, mainly fools, and they often reminds me what Harry did, giving up his royal status for what? Nothing. Now he's battling all sorts of problems.

Calm down and enjoy what you can, no matter how small. Even what you said about broken dreams etc, this is experienced by most people. Just look at all these fools, millionaires, billionaires, they often seem more messed up than we are.

In life, pain and sorrow are the rule, not the exception. As Arthur Schopenhauer said: 'You should regard this world as a kind of Hell in which you can consider yourself lucky if you have a little room to yourself to keep away from the fire.'.

Don't react to anything in knee-jerk fashion, I believe these are the most dangerous reactions. I am very impulsive too so that to me is a serious flaw. Youtube has tons of examples of people reacting without thinking, and regretting it later.

My advice is, don't rely on friends and family, even if they love you. Love is nice, but it's not safe. Legal entitlement is safer than love.
