Capita PIP recordings was created by Katiee
Just sharing some information from Capita regarding their recording of assessments.
I called them yesterday as I've still not had the CD of the recording of my PIP assessment.
I didn't get the link to download the digital version, which, according to their website today, 8th May 2026 11am states -
"After your appointment, you will receive a link to your recording by text message or email, and a separate text message with a one-time password. The password will expire after 24 hours and can only be used once to access and download your recording. This is to protect you and the information you provided at your appointment."
When I called, I was advised that they no longer send out the links as they don't keep the digital files. I poi red out what the website says and she said that she will make sure it's changed, as it 'should have been updated'.
The woman I spoke with was very reluctant to answer the direct question of 'was my assessment recorded?', so I'm just assuming it wasn't.
I don't know how much truth is in any of what she said about the recording, but I just wanted to pass this information on and stress that people should make every effort to record their assessments themselves. I know I'm glad I did now!

Hi Katiee
Thank you so much for taking the time to report this. I am going to pin your post so it stays visible at the top of the forum for a while, as this could easily affect others.

Hi Katiee
I am sure that Capita do record the assesements as I challenged an entirely fabricated report and they later included a verbatim comment made by the claimant during the appeal process . No response to request for recording. At tribunal the medical evidence was accepted and claimant got award. It would be interesting to know by the team whether complaint or tribunal is more effective to get a fair process
It was also clear that the assessor is selecting a template and customising it slightly to produce a report.
I would go through the mandatory reconsideration and then to tribunal in tandem . Wishing you health and stamina to do this.

Hi Maidey
Regarding whether a tribunal or the complaints procedure is a fairer process, it is impossible to say as they serve different functions. Anecdotally, it seems that many people who file a complaint do not appear to receive a satisfactory response, especially if there is no recording of the assessment. If a claimant makes a complaint and it is upheld, they often have to take part in a second assessment, which is very stressful. An Appeal is also stressful, but it doesn't lead to another assessment - the decision is made by the panel. Currently, about 60% of appeals are successful.
