Increased award prior to tribunal but no continuous award was created by Julie
Hiya, I lodged an appeal for PIP recently and the DWP settled before I was given a Tribunal date. I'm obviously delighted, but I assumed that the Award would be for an continuous ongoing period. So I was a bit surprised that it is still for 5 years (from the renewal date). I'm now on Enhanced for both components, and I have MS, RA, OA and fibromyalgia. Is it worth submitting another appeal, but only for the length of the Award?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Julie
The Tribunal panel won't just consider the length of an award. They judge whether a claimant meets the criteria for PIP. The length of an award is up to the DWP. You can always write to the DWP to see if they will consider it, but very few people get the length changed. (That doesn't mean you shouldn't ask.). You have nothing to lose by posing the question.

Dear BIS,
Many thanks for that, I'll definitely give it some thought.
