Hello all,
My son, whose review was due on 07/09/2029, has been given an extension of 25 days, until 02/10/2029. As his current award was granted on 03/10/2023, this would bring the timescale up to exactly six years (rather than just short of six years, if you see what I mean).
So when the DWP say the extensions are being given to "fall into alignment with their systems", I wonder if these shorter extensions are being done to have a similar effect, i.e. a sort of "rounding-up" process?
I'm concerned about the number of "indefinite" extensions being given - my son has received an indefinite award twice (first for DLA, then for PIP) and, each time, a review followed much more quickly than we were expecting. The first time, it was due to the change from DLA to PIP, and the second because we were already in the middle of a review which was taking a long time.
I very much agree with David - a lot could have changed by 2029, and I'm worried these changes to people's awards are coming ahead of a change to the benefit itself. I hope for some compassion, whichever government is in charge then.
Best wishes,
Wendy

Hi Wendy Woo
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I expect the statement from the DWP -to "fall into alignment with their systems"- tells us that these extensions are being generated by IT or AI and not by a DWP official sitting down and looking at them.

Hi David,
Thank you - once again, I very much agree. I've often felt everything is very carefully controlled by their computer systems.
