Thank you adamant for the info. I have downloaded the SAR. I have no good reason apart from nosiness to request this info. Could you advise if such a request has any repurcussions? i.e will it be recorded that I have made a subject access request? I simply do not want the Government to knoe more about me than I do myself

It shouldn't have any repercussions Anne, but who knows with these people.. if it does I am in big trouble the ammount that I have requested..It is just interesting to find things out like what did the Decision Maker find "necesary" to ask the medical examiner to check on.It had to be "necessary" in order to help reach a decision.(See guides on this site) Did the examination go beyond what it should have to find those points,if so it could be against guidelines, procedures and maybe even unlawful in certain cases, Was your consent recorded (if given). Or what other evidence was used in the decision which wasn't told to you, or was evidence ignored which you had provided. Just because they say "we have used the evidence that you have provided" doesn't mean that they have been given it all. Similarly the GPs report is meant to be be based on fact, how can this be good evidence if he is a locum and doesn't know you? If you are still appealing Anne digging deep and having such information in advance could really discredit their evidence, but if not then I would just ask for any bits that may be of real interest to you..

Hi Anne
A Subject Access Request (SAR) is just a fancy name for a copy of details that any government department, NHS Trust or indeed any organisation hold on you under the Data Protection 1998.
There are literally thousands made every week, and you have a legal right to a copy of them, so my advice would be to not worry.
Good luck.
Jim

Thank you adamant. I am not appealing - I was awarded IB until 15/03/2011 and I do not want to rock the boat. But I would still like to know what info about me is held by the DWP. I have nothing to hide so why shoud they? Maybe I am premature but I want to have all power to my elbow for the inevitable ESA

Sorry adamant and Jim (thanks for the reply) I should have explained that my purpose in using the SAR is that I want to know why my health status has changed from being an exempt catagory to "likely to improve significantly within 12 months"(tell thet to my neurologist). I can think of no other way to inestigate than to get my records from the DWP.
