why do we put up with it?? was created by danebabe
Having been diagnosed with 'classic fibromyalgia' as the rheumatologist wrote on my report and suffering with feet so painful I can hardly stand up let alone work, I dutifully filled in that hidious DLA form, describing my back injury sustained 10 years ago, the fibro, depression, diabetes, IBS, insomnia, and problems caused by not being able to bend i.e toilet is a problem (lets not go there!).
My DLA was duly returned refused on all counts.
To be honest I live alone and just could not face an appeal so although I initially said I wanted one, I wrote and said I had changed my mind.

Where does this leave me? even more depressed, and afraid and thinking what's the point??

How many genuinely ill people are being treated like this by our government?, I injured my back at work, it took two years to get it assigned as a 'work inflicted injury', my employer refused to co operate with the govt dept asking the questions....the result, I was never diagnosed properly for 4 years....hence all my problems now.

But why, are we all allowing this govt, and ATOS and all those appeal bodies to treat us like this? because we are too ill too weak and too vulnerable to do anything about it! easy target you bet!

The law is an ass', why do they waste all of this money on ATOS doctors instead of believing the NHS doctors diagnosis in the first place....this DLA is so loaded against people its a wonder anyone gets anything, and it must be costing far more to run than it is paying out to claimants....

Help! we are drowning in a sea of incompetence.....Great Britain....what a joke.

Hi sorry you have had the problem you dont
say if your claim is a renewal or for the
1st time. I think you must appeal and go
to the tribunal. This another example of
the total lack of knowledge by ATOS. I would sujest you get writen evidence to
help. I would aslo sujest you use the website to help. If you speak to steve
he his a kind and will help. PS dont worry
your not on your own its to be hoped that
a new Goverment will dump ATOS. Also remember your MP will be worried about his
future so tell him a Vote lost is one against him good luck Mike. ;)

I agree with Steve on this one everyone write to their M.P's and for a meeting in the constituency office also local news papers.

And if you can use the discrimination act.

Hi hun not sure if this is helpful at all but a friend of mine suffers from fibro, depression, IBS and insomnia and she tried to claim for DLA. Like you she was refused, her mum was there to help her and go through all the documentation with her. She wrote a letter back as to why she would like to appeal and I believe they took that letter into account as evidence and actually change their decision and actually allowed her DLA. If you like maybe I can speak with her and see if she can help you.

I agree though we are drowning in incompetence. I was at my appeal yesterday for IB and even though my appeal was allowed the gentlemen who allowed it basically turned round and told me to get over myself, get off my backside, and get a job as if I failed my medical again and went to tribunal they would not allow it. They even blamed my illnesses which include depression, diabetes and a few other things on me.

Thanks for your replies, it was a first application.
I'm going to wait 3 months and get help from CAB or similar to fill the forms in.
