How long to wait was created by bewitched3
I posted my DLA new claim pack back on the 4th of may along with a letter from my Doctor. However The say they still have not received the form. When I rang after a week to see if they had recieved the form. I was told it can take 7-10 days to get into there system. It has been 16 days now. How long should I wait before doing another one? As it took forever to fill the other one in and I only have a photocopy of the doctors letter, Would that be ok to send if I have to resend a form?

Hi B,

First claims for DLA are dealt with Disability Benefits Centre located throughout the UK, so it depends how busy the DBC office is.

Most of the DBC's are large offices so it can take week or so to go through their internal mail system.

However, 16 days seems a sufficient time, so I'd ring again to make sure they haven't received it, and if not resend everything but do it by recorded delivery which only costs 70 pence in addition to postage, and it can be tracked using the Royal Mail's website, which shows when it was delivered and who signed for it.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Jim

Thanks, I have kept a copy of my form and doctors letter. Should I fill out the form exactly like the last one and explain that the last one seems to have been lost. As i applied on the 6th of april I don't want to miss out on any backdated money just because a form has gone missing.
