I have had my medical and been turned down by the person i saw (only got 9 points for my epilepsy) i have appealed as it was like the person i saw either was blind or thought i was making my body do the shaking and twitching it does and i cannot stop it happening. So now i am waiting but due to the fact its going to be possibly 6 months before my tribunal (someone i spoke to says it prob will end up with tribunal as 90% do). Should i be doing some sort of retraining as i am sure with the new government i prob won't be able to stay not working and i would like to but my condition is not suitable for me to work at the moment although having not been having stress or work i am now feeling better and having less problems but what if this comes back again doing some sort of trainig would possibly help but i don't want to mess up my appeal. Advice please and also can i get free training whilst waiting for the appeal.
Hi,
Sorry to hear you are having to go to appeal - it seems to be getting more and more common with ESA claims.
With regards to training etc, unless you are eventually placed into the Support Group, you will have to attend a series of what are called Work Focussed Interviews, either with JobCentre Plus or a private provider. It maybe worth asking about training at the interviews albeit the quality and standard of some of the providers and training can be variable. As to free training, I think it depends where you live as to what may or may not be available locally.
However, with regards to your ESA appeal you should try to obtain some face to face advice from a welfare rights adviser/CAB or Community Legal Services who can give ou both helpand support with the appeal.
