AWARDED HIGH RATE! DO I NEED TO TELL TAX CREDITS? was created by QueenyV
Hi everyone, I have just been awarded high rate care and low mobility, which was previously middle care but after filling in a review form with the help of this site I have achieved the high rate, I am eternally greatfull for this thank you xxx
But now I wonder do I have to tell HMRC about this change? I don't work because of my disability but my partner does work full time self-employed, he gets around £100 a month working tax credit, we have 3 children. Will the change to high rate care make any difference to our Tax Credits? Should I even tell them?
Thanks very much xxx

Hi there, I would say that's a YES! My husband works 36hrs a week & I get IB (non taxable)I did get low rate care & we were a bit hit & miss with working tax credits (we have no children - well, not at home anymore anyway. Almost 2yrs ago my dla award went to high rate on both mobility & care but I think I was in so much shock we didn't immediately tell tax credits though I don't think it was very long before we received a letter from them informing us that due to our change in circumstances our WTC amounts had been reviewed, we got much more tax credits & it was backdated to the date of my award so we had a backdated payment from them as well as the one from dla. Good luck with it & congrats on your award
