Transfer From IB was created by Brian
Q: If a 61 year old man is eligible for Pension Credit and ESA which will he be advised to claim i.e. will it be his choice or will he be told which he is entitled to be the DWP/Pension Service?

A: Male customers will have a choice of whether to claim ESA(IR) or Pension Credit. When a person reaches age 60, a pensioner premium becomes payable in ESA which is designed to bridge the gap between ESA rates and Pension Credit. ESA(C) would continue up to state pension age.

Hi.
Wonder if anyone can help, re the above. Do I take it from what it says, that in my case when they get round to transfering me, I will have a choice beteen ESA or Pension Credit?
I will be at least 61 by then , and am on IB with Pension Credit top up.
The above is from DWP .gov site.

Hi Brian,

it does look like that is the case. However, we would very strongly advise getting advice from an advice agency before making a decision when you reach that point.

Good luck,

Steve
