DLA mrc explaining how much help I need was created by help007
My middle rate care component was not renewed following a tribunal but I was awarded low rate care. Not having middle rate care meant I also lost my income support entitlement which has made a huge difference.
I am now applying for my low rate care to be superseded? and to again receive mrc. i need various help throughout the day - they know and accept that I can't prepare a main meal - hence the low rate award but apart from that:
I don't know how to dress for the type of weather. Would sleep in my clothes if not prompted and would look unkempt not changing my clothes often or washing my hair. I do bath fairly often because I have Raynaud's disease and feel the cold. Basically, I lack common sense and need reminding and prompting about a lot of things - I have let my car run out of petrol on occasion.
How should I get that across. Would I say I need 5 minutes of help 10 times a day. Or is there is a standard way to express it.
Thanks a lot ...

Hi Help007,
All I can suggest is that you use the guides and give the most accurate and detailed information you can about each time you need help on an average day.
Not a lot of help, I know, but there's certainly no standard form answer we can offer.
Do be aware also that if you are asking for a supersession that it would normally need to be on the grounds that there there has been a change in your circumstances - such as a worsening of your condition - and that your award can go down instead of up when it is looked at again.
Good luck,
steve

i would ask for a copy of the dla form you filled in that got you middle rate care , see what you said
i can see how you got lower rate care..... but cant get my head around what got you middle rate last time
is your Raynaud's disease caused by emotional stress more than the cold ? IMO if that is so then that might tie in with your comments in your third paragraph which might expand needs enough to get them to look at middle rate care
also was the last claim your first claim and this is your first renewal after say 3 years ?
