ESA - Support group and EDP was created by Debs
For all those who are in receipt of ESA and are in the support group- Please check you are also getting your entitlement to EDP- which is an enhanced disability premium.
It can be overlooked- but the good news is that it can be backdated...mine was. I had to tell the DWP of my entitlement!

thanks for the info.may I be cheeky and ask you the nature of your condition which has enabled you to qualify for the support group please?
I suffer from advanced stages of ankylosing spondylitis, ctohns disease, osteopena (precursor to osteoporosis) and bouts of iritis, all of which are tied in with the AS.
I am hoping that I will qualify for the support group when I am tested due to the daily pain and fatigue that I suffer.
Having a bad night tonight, hence why I am awake and online rather than in bed!

How do you know that you are entitled to this additional premium - is it only if you have DLA?
sorry I am new to all this... still trying to find my way about claiming anything! Just been awarded ESA at appeal without a hearing.

This has nothing to do with DLA. It is a top up for those in the ESA(IR) support group. Unsure if it applies to ESA(C)

Hi
I was put into the support group after a tribunal and was automatically awarded the EDP. If you get high rate care on DLA then you are entitled to the EDP on the Work Related Activity group too. IF you meet the criteria and live alone and also receive M/RC DLA then you also qualify for the severe disability premium as well. HTH

I am in receipt of high rate mobility component of DLA and middle rate care.
As I am claiming income support,I was awarded the severe disability premium as I get the middle rate care component and live alone.
hope this helps.
