Thanks everyone. To you Rachel, I have just checked and the Post office website says that they delivered the package on the 20th so that gives them time enough to get it on the system. I shall give them a ring tomorrow.
Someone elsewhere said that they thought that the address on the original envelope was a Royal Mail clearing house where they extracted the forms prior to delivering them to Atos. Hopefully I've just short circuited the procedure by sending it directly to the Atos address on the letter.

Hi BS,
We have had reports from other members who have posted their ESA50 to the address on the ESA50 deadline reminder letter, rather than the address on the ATOS envelope provided, and even though this may have been different, all has been O.K.
cheers

In case anyone was wondering I finally got a result from my ESA 50. After waiting, shaking with worry for 3 months I got the result I was hoping for. I got moved from long term IB directly into the ESA Support Group without needing to attend a medical!
I want to thank Benefits and Work and the contributors to this forum without whose help I'm sure I wouldn't have got this result.
Assuming the various bills go through the next hurdle will be to keep my motability car under PIP but I'll worry about that later.
Best
Brian
