Is it worth an appeal? was created by ricky
Ive just had home visit medical for DLA renewal,my rates have been reduced from high rate care and low rate mobilty to low rate care and low rate mobility. On readding the medical report how they came to decision they have not taken into account my needs during the night, but it has been awarded indeafantly. Im not sure weather to appeal or not incase they reduce it even more.
Can anyone give advice on this.
Thanks

Hi,
whilst we cannot give individual case advice, we can, in conjunction with the guides in the members area try to explain how the system works.
To that end, it would be worth reading the 'Appealing a DLA Decision' guide from this page here:
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/dla
but do bear in mind Is there any risk to challenging a decision?
Ultimately the decision whether to appeal or not is yours but obtaining face to face help can establish the relative safety of your current award and the prospects for a successful appeal.
However you are time limited for putting in an appeal, so it maybe prudent to put in for an appeal then cancelling it if necessary once you have obtained face to face advice.
To appeal you will need to complete a form GL24 – If you think our decision is wrong form.
