Neither the DWP nor ATOS will acknowledge receipt of your ESA50.
If your ESA50 is not received, for whatever reason, the DWP will write to you asking why it was not returned. This would probably be no more than a couple of weeks after the original return date. You would need to show Good Cause why the form is missing or your claim would be stopped due to a technical infringement.

No, as you have already qualified for ESA, the rate will stay the same until a new Decision is made.Gordon, once the forms have been returned (mine is renewal)does the dwp continue to pay the award until a decision is made? I am in the wrag and forms due back by 16th dec (I am on the four week deadline!)and my origional 12 month award was up last week.Does it go back to basic rate or stay at the wrag rate? many thanks HM

Medical took place mid- October .
I was expecting from what forum members were saying that I would be waiting over 6 weeks for a decison .
As reported earlier , I goe a ' courtesy call' from DWP beginning of Novemebr to say I was entitled to ESA and in the support group .
Got letter to confirm decision 15th Novemebr.
Like every-one here I have found the who;e process very stressful and quite humiliating and was very surprised to be put in the SG without having to fight for it .
The nonly positive thing I could hang onto was that all the delay meant I had a few more weeks IB before ESA started as I am getting in on NI conts. and was anticipating only another years' benefit .
Thanks to all At B&W and the support on this forum.
