ESA Completed and Sent - New Information was created by Karen M
Hello Everyone
Using the Guides I recently sent off my questionnaire, and JCP have confirmed receipt and my papers are now with Medical Services. My papers have been with them for just over 2 weeks.
However, unfortunately my health status has deteriorated in so far as yesterday I was placed as an emergency with the Mental Health Crisis Team. I have my first assessment with them today, having inititally been assessed by my GP and then a Mental Health Practitioner. In short I was having suicidal ideation.
My other medical conditions, are very complex, which resulted in some extra 30 extra pages of information accompanying my papers, with consultant review notes and treatment plan.
Finally my question is, after today, should I let JCP know about this latest development, and do I have to get a letter or some sort of evidence that I am now under a Mental Health Team?
I am sorry if this question is covered here, I did look, but could not see anything, but concede I am not thinking straight so could have missed it.
I do have CAB support as well.
Thank you.

Hi Karen
You didn't say what benefit you are claiming so I presume it's ESA.
If after sending the ESA50 form your health worsens you can explain this in a letter and forward it to Medical Services and the DWP decision maker. They are obliged to consider what you say but it would obviously have more weight if you could get supporting evidence from your healthcare professionals.
It would also be worth taking copies of new evidence to your face-to-face assessment, if you have one, and confirm that the HCP as received and read the extra documents.
Hope this helps
Derek

Dear Derek,
Thank you so much for your reply. Yes it is ESA I am dealing with, under the natural migration from IB to ESA. I suspect I am going to have a bit of a battle with them, as I have requested home visit, as yet have heard nothing on that front.
Up to now, I do have to say that my experience with JCP has been very positive, queries I have raised with them, answered expeditiously. I hope this positivity can continue, moreso considering some of the awful stories I have read here.
I will of course ask for Supporting Documentation to send from my appt today, as you have so helpfully advised.
Thank you
Karen
