The appeal form

It was a GL24 leaflet after all, but the number was extremely hard to spot.

I just also found out that personal GP's do not act as representatives (as asked about on the form). Any idea who is supposed to fill that role please?

Hi Element

Are you asking who will represent you at appeal? If your appeal is accepted you will receive a "bundle" this will contain all the information used in deciding/declining your claim.

You will need to read throught this and provide your own evidence. This may be done by finding a representative, or by appearing in person before the tribunal, or asking for an paper hearing.

Hi E,

I would be most surprised if a person's G.P. acted as their representative in an appeal.

You would have to approach an advice agency such as The CAB.

The DWP have no business informing you not to appeal. Once an adverse decision is open to dispute, the Department become a party to the proceedings and therefore are not allowed to instruct a claimant to abandon any potential appeal

This amounts to misdirection and is tantamount to maladministration. You could in this situation seek financial redress for maladministration, but you would have to prove that the DWP gave you incorrect advice, otherwise it could prove very difficult if it is just your word against their word.
