M.P.'s will have sources of direct contact within the DWP and ATOS.

They can ask questions and put forward complaints on your behalf, as one of their constituents.

It would be hoped that the DWP and ATOS would pay more attention to any of the above from an M.P. rather than a "lowly" claimant.

How supportive an M.P. may be, would depend on their own political leaning.

Some members have had really good support from their M.P.'s and some have just received a standard response letter.

Any support given would probably be dealt with by the M.P.'s caseworker.

my MP put his caseworker on my case after I contacted him and she chased up my ESA85a etc for me, dwp were ignoring me. I recieved a letter from him last week [we are having a 'exchange of views' on the 12 month ESA cb] and it was 'we're appealing' and 'we' should see about getting your DLA care reviewed as you should be on a higher rate. 'we'
it is 3 months since DWP confirmed reciept of my appeal and still heard nothing caseworker is getting in touch with DWP next week if I still haven't heard.
if our MPs don't know the problems we are having then they will think the system is working. 'sigh' I wish!

the ESA 85A is the report made by a Health Care Professional 'hcp' when you do not have a medical. if you do have a medical it is ESA85.
