psychologist reluctant to help with ESA50

the clinical psychologist i see for mental health problems
was unwilling to write something to support my ESA50,
which i am completing.
she says my GP should do it, but i see her more often than the GP.
supportive evidence from professionals is vital for my case,
but she's reluctant to continue.
can anyone give advice here, please?

Hi P,

Unfortunately G.P.'s Consultants, and other treating HCP's are not contractually obligated to provide letters of support or reports for their patients.

Some will do it willingly for free, some for a fee, and some not at all.

Your G.P. should hold any letters that your psychologist has sent him, re : your treatment and condition.

If its of any consolation you are not alone with this problem. I was in the same boat. No help or written letter from my psychologist who also suggested going to my gp, and my gp said he will write only if they contact him.

I see my psychologist a lot more times than my gp, and he is more knowledgable about my conditions than my gp. Seemed like I was going round in circles. So in the end I attended the medical without any written evidence and am still awaiting the outcome.

Ask Atos/the DWP to obtain the requisite evidence from the healthcare professionals when you submit form ESA50.

You don't say whether your psychiatrist is unwilling to do the wok, or unwilling to involve herself with the DWP.

You might try asking her to send a brief report on your suitability for work, and your main symptoms to your GP as a "refresher" for your case notes. The the GP can add that on to his/her report.

The odds do seem to be against it working, but it's probably worth a try.
