DWP - giving phone number was created by MCFH
Hi, I've been on IB and have now recieved my letter asking to phone about ESA. The DWP don't have my phone number - I don't really want to give it to them as I can find it hard to "process" information given on the phone (I'm not good at accurate message taking for example). Can I ring them using 141 to withold my number and ask them to just post me any info? Or what happens if I don't phone them at all?
Thanks, M

Hi MCFH,
As it would seem that you have started the ESA migration process, you may wish to start filling in the Pdf ESA50 from here :
Use Of The Interactive PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire
To ease time constraints, using our ESA claim guides from here :
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa
You do not have to provide your phone number, if you do not wish to.
It is possible for the whole process to be done with written correspondence.
You can make such a request on your ESA50, it asks for your phone number on the ESA50, but you do not have to provide it.
The call that you speak of is simply a courtesy call, and goes through the process, and asks whether you have any questions.
Please note that even if you request no phone contact, they may still call you, (if they have your number), you are under no compulsion to answer such a call though.
I should point out, that if you don't receive your hard copy ESA50 through the post within the next fortnight, it would be advisable to contact them to ensure that it has not got lost in the post.
It may help if you read the ESA section of our FAQ's from here also :
