I suppose it all depends on what 'reasonable endeavour' means. :)

Hi,
I wouldn't hold out too much hope of being seen within 10 minutes of the scheduled appointment time. When I had my last Atos 'medical' assessment I had to wait for 1hr 20 mins after the appointment time, and I have had two spinal operations so sitting and standing are a big problem, but you have to attend or you could lose your benefit. There were no adequate chairs for me to sit on so had to spend all that time standing still and walking, caused me a lot more pain but it has to be done unfortunately.

as regards the start time, that is conmtractual between the DWP and ATOS and I do not think you can use a contractual issue like that to refuse a medical.

On the other hand, as regards climibing on to a couch, don;t get hung up on health and safety reg. The important point is you CAN refuse to climb on to the couch if it causes you pain or danger

Make sure you take someone with you to witness your medical and to provide moral support

Hi

I think there is a big difference between simply refusing to carry a request out, as this would be recorded as a refusal, and may go against you, and being "Unable" to carry out a request, due to pain, discomfort or limitations and risk.

In the latter scenario, I would make it perfectly clear that I was not simply "Refusing" to comply, and why I "couldn't" comply.

Hi Derek,
No, no reasonable endeavour was made to see me within the 10 minutes  Was only after about half an hours wait, I enquired at the reception desk, told me the doctors were running late by at least an hour, but no mention of it as people came in. They finally told people that they could leave and re book appointment if wanted, just before the doctor called me in. Typical!
