Whilst the ATOS "doctor" should pass on your evidence to the DWP, you should not rely on them doing so, which is why we are recommending you send a copy to the DWP.

The fact that you are in receipt of DLA should be relevant as is further evidence of you condition(s), but do not be surpried if the "doctor" is not entirely interested.

Thank you once again, i dont want to appear anuisance BUT, ha. I am concerned that if i say I am in receipt of DLA they will start to try and trip me up or get me confused about my sitting more than 10 mins etc, I am worried they wil possibily slightly interorgate me about driving and sitting for more than 10mins etc and how far do you drive etc do you drive for more than 10mins when infact at times i can but i always have to shuffle in my seat and at times i have to stop and stretch and therefore i was fearful in telling the doctor i had higher rate dla for getting around incase they started saying how many miles can you go etc. what advive would you give? i always want to be honest but feel they dont make it easy for fear of being mis interpretated. Thank you

Hi D,

I can't really advise you on what to say, other that that you should go into detail about how your limitations restrict your ability.

The more prepared that you are for the questions that may be asked at the medical assessment, the better.

It may help if you have a look at page 62 onwards of the :

Employment and Support Allowance claims on physical health grounds: a guide to the work capability assessment.

In particular page 68 which gives a list of probable questions that you may be asked.

From this link ;

ESA Guides

Reading the WCA Handbook from the same link may also help, as it contains guidance given to ATOS HCP's on carrying out the medical.
