My First DLA Appeal next week!! was created by miss ladysmith
Hi, just thought I would introduce myself on here and let you know that i have my DLA appeal on December 13th.
This appeal relates to my renewal that was due Jan 2010 - so almost two years now!!
Initially upon renewal I lost all DLA, despite the fact that i was significantly worse - this was mainly due to my GP, despite writing at great length to support my claim, then went on to make two crucial mistakes in a section he didn't even have to fill in!
Eventually, after my GP wrote a letter to explain his wording - he refused to admit he had made a mistake, blaming the DWP for being petty - but in all fairness the GP was more to blame, they reinstated my high mobility and awarded low care - this was in May 2010 - I had to go for 5 months without my DLA.
But as several medical people I've seen all felt i should be on middle care, i put in for appeal in May 2010 - i was told it would be around april 2010 when my appeal would be heard, then spring 2011, then two months every time i rang - until my advisor contacted them and made a formal complaint - suddenly i had a date for my appeal!
I only came upon this site the other week - i wish i had this when i was filling in my renewal forms!
So, i've read up on many things in preparing me for my appeal - i just wondered whether anybody had any specific advise to give, or areas of the site to point me toward that would be of use...
having read of so many people's recent successes on here, along with detailed information about DLA, i am feeling positive... I will of course let you know how i get on...
Fingers crossed!
