Hi there, I was awarded DLA middle rate care and lower rate mobility at tribunal in September. I also receive ESA work category. I also have a 19 year old non dependant son who lives at home.
The benefits wrote to me and said i maybe entitled to a disability premium as no one claims a carers allowance for me - i filled the forms in Sept but have not heard anything back. I have never heard of this premium and dont know whether I am entitled to it and I am unsure who to phone to see why I have not heard anything back - any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
If eligible, the premium is paid on top of your ESA, so you should contact the DWP office that deals with your ESA to find out what is going on.
That said, if your son a non-dependant and living with you you may not qualify, so should speak to your local CAB or Welfare Rights office for further advice.
